Life of a waitress By Jess
'
Many over look the waitress like it or not because they are too busy realise what truely goes on behind the scences of this job. This my friends is about the life of a waitress. The treatment and the under pay for such a hard job that most do not appreciate because they down the hard working group of people in this country.
Most people do not appreicate that we (waitresses or waiters) bring everything they ask with a smile on our faces even in reality we are not happy because of personal problems. We sometimes get so busy that we forget a small thing like a drink or maybe just a dressing. On big days like Fridays,Saturdays, and Sundays we get so busy because people croward our doors . They excpect so much and leave less. We still say thanks for coming and have a nice day. We go overboard to bring a smile to someone's face and maybe a little sunshine on a very cloudy day. Sometimes we don't even get tipped for that. Most of us or most I know have children and maybe we made mistakes in our lifes to have this job. We don't ask to be yelled out and at times insulted by rude people . We still smile and laugh about things even when if hurts. We still stand proud even if we are under payed for all tips and 1 dollar a hour we make. Nothing less is asked of us and when we go home we are so tired .. Yet we tend to our familes and live out our lives. I've never met such hard working people in my life that get treated so poorly. I know I've only been doing this job for a month and half ..Yet I understand the disrespect we get and the down fall of the under middle class group of workers. I believe that next time you see a waitress or waiter you should let them know you appreciate them. In this day and age no one respects the under class people that break their backs for a living. Some how I think that I appreciate having this job more because it is and has been a great learning expeirnce for me. I will walk away with a new scence of pride and know where I want to be here in my life. I hope that this makes you realize how little people look at the jobs in USA. Yes, I believe thats all I got to say about this. Yet there is so much more to be said and done. Sadly,I know I can't start a speech over net on stuff of this matter. I just hope you grow to earn respect for any under payed worker because they also build this country.
In best reguards,
Jess
ps I realize this is not a correct format to write in ,but I just had get it off my shoulder. I do apology for the errors.~Jess

True, @ first, I felt like they were treating me like shit, but as I worked along, I realize that they have it hard. REAL HARD.
So from now on, I try to show the upmost sympathy to a waitress, especially if she's extremely ladylike, such as yourself. (I try doing that w/women regardless, but Nemoo...) You have my sympathy Jess & I love you.
Forgetting a drink is *NOT* a "SMALL" mistake. I've gotten a margarita forgotten about that I waited 25 minutes for LITERALLY, because I KNOW what time I got seated. The waiter should have asked the manager to COMP it for waiting THAT FREAKIN LONG out of common decency. I had to ask him where my margarita was for him to remember it.
As for a dressing is concerned it's sort of a smaller mistake, but not a small mistake for me anyway. I eat almost EVERYTHING with condiments, so when a server forgets them, it's like my entree is not in front of me, because I don't want to start eating WITHOUT them. I barley get apologies when they for them and I am NOT rude to them about it. I say "Thank you", when they bring me things, they could at least apologize for making me sit there and wait to eat my food. It sometimes has gotten almost cold waiting sometimes 4 or more minutes. It's a pretty major deal for me. I feel if the server would keep a on going LIST of things to do and put an astrick (*) where you have to go BACK to that item, that would be how they wouldn't forget things. A lot of times, my soft drink has been forgotten, because I ordered a mixed drink as well, because of the server NOT WRITING the order down. I take off more points if they can't ATTEMPT to TRY to remember the order by writing it down at least if they get my order wrong that is. That shows how UNCARING they are when they don't write it down. Sure, I've had times where the server wrote the order down and got a completely wrong entree even, but it's a START in the right direction at least if the server writes the order down. I received that wrong entree from the SAME SERVER. I thought he looked STUPID doing that I feel, because bringing me a TOTALLY wrong thing to the table that was OBVIOUSLY WRONG, is dumb and LAZY not to reread the order he wrote down. He admitted pressing a wrong button. He didn't even ask the manger to comp my entree. I left the waiter ZERO tip for being SO UNCARING. He only apologized when I went up to him find out what happpened, with a little "Sorry", NO "SO SORRY" as I SHOULD have had.
I feel if the *SAME* server brings me my food that wrote down my order, there's NO EXCUSE to take my entree to me with the condiments I ordered or the condiments that are listed on the menu that are supposed to come with the item. Now, I can understand the forgetting the drinks more than the condiments, because the server knows they are taking me my food, so WHY take it to my table with *VISABLE* errors that I see without touching my food? If I can see the mistake on my plate, so can my SERVER!
